What is Skin Rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation is the process of using cosmetic treatment to improve the look, feel and texture of your skin. Whether you want to restore a youthful glow, treat acne scarring, or simply tighten sagging skin, your practitioner will advise on a range of options to suit your needs.

What are the benefits of Skin Rejuvenation treatment?

Increasing numbers of people are using cosmetic skin treatments – and they’re not afraid to admit it. That’s because they offer a wealth of wrinkle-ridding benefits, including:
• improved acne scarring
• reduced fine lines and wrinkles
• relieved redness and rosacea
• diminished sunspots
• minimised facial veins
• tightened loose skin
• balanced skin tone
Depending on the type of skin rejuvenation treatment, some results will be quicker and more pronounced than others. All of which will be clearly explained to you before going ahead with any type of treatment.

Types of skin rejuvenation treatments

Finding the right skin rejuvenation treatment can be confusing. From miracle creams and chemical peels, to laser resurfacing and micro needling, options for skin treatment seekers soon become overwhelming.
So to help you make sense of the world of skin rejuvenation, we’ve put together a list of our most popular treatments. First up: injectables.

Injectable skin rejuvenation treatments

Botox™

Perhaps the most renowned in the world of skin rejuvenation is Botox: a naturally occurring protein molecule causing a temporary relaxation of facial muscles.
In cosmetic medicine, Botox is injected to relax muscles that cause lines and wrinkles to your forehead and other facial areas. In doing so, your skin is rewarded with time to recover and for lines to disappear.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are commonly used to soften and contour facial lines, folds and wrinkles. It’s a compound made up of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance produced by our bodies which is responsible for lubricating joints and keeping skin soft and hydrated.
In medicine today, hyaluronic fillers are completely biocompatible, which means they are safely reabsorbed by our bodies without the risk of side effects.
There are many different types of dermal fillers available in the UK. And at Skin Excellence Clinics we only use products which demonstrate predictable, long-term results with an outstanding safety record, such as Juvederm®, Maili®, Restylane®, Profhlio® and Teosyal®.

Sculptra™

Available as a non-invasive injectable treatment, Sculptra™ smooths lines, folds and wrinkles by stimulating your body’s capacity to generate new collagen.
As a bio-stimulant treatment, Sculptra™ works differently to other treatments by helping your body naturally produce collagen to deliver results for up to three to four years.
It’s a treatment first pioneered by the NHS which, to this day, is still used to treat lipoatrophy (fat loss) in HIV patients, as well as those suffering with congenital facial deformities.
[H4] Vampire Facelift®
The Vampire Facelift® gets its name through its blood-based rejuvenation treatment, which uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to speed up the healing process of wounds, burns and other skin conditions.
It’s a treatment first released in the USA by Dr Runels MD, designed to harvest stem cells which stimulate skin and create natural volume and shape.
Since its introduction to the market, the Vampire Facelift® has become a go-to treatment, which is especially popular with celebrities. Read more, here.

Ellanse

Ellanse works differently from traditional fillers. It gives an immediate correction of lost volume, just like a traditional dermal filler. But it also acts as a biostimulator, continuing to produce long lasting and natural results by enhancing the body’s own collagen reserves. By helping to replenish your own facial collagen and restore lost volume, it can give a fuller more natural look and can last up to 2 years before the full effect is lost. Read more, here

Types of ablative skin rejuvenation treatments

FaceTite™

Transmitting thermal energy deep within the subdermal fat layer of the face and neck, FaceTite™ uses radiofrequency technology to reduce fat cells and significantly tighten skin.
It’s a non-incisional facelifting procedure applied using a small FaceTite™ applicator, specifically designed to target intricate areas otherwise unattainable through other skin rejuvenation methods.
Often, the results achieved using FaceTite™ are the equivalent of what’s achieved through typically invasive facelift surgery.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 is a treatment combining radiofrequency energy and micro-needling technology to cause fractional resurfacing and remodelling of the skin.
It’s a process that releases energy deep within skin layers to heal a range of conditions, such as acne scarring, body scarring, facial rejuvenation, skin tightening, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving elasticity and more.
Because of its versatility, Morpheus8 is used by both young and elderly patients who want to enjoy smoother, tighter and more radiant-looking skin.

HIFU facial

Designed for face, neck or eyebrow lifting, high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) offers a non-surgical alternative to typical facelifts.
Unlike other facial rejuvenation treatments, HIFU uses formal energy in the form of micro-focused beams to stimulate collagen and cause tightening of the skin.
It’s a safe and effective breakthrough method in the world of skin rejuvenation which involves no downtime or risks associated with invasive surgery.

– Tixel

Innovative Heat Based Skin Treatments for Fast Effective Results

Tixel and Mezotix are safe and highly effective methods to create striking results with little downtime and very little or no pain. Both use heat applied very quickly to the skin to stimulate collagen production and the skin’s natural healing
Our Tixel machine works by using a small heated metal plate with tiny pyramid shape protrusions to apply heat to the skin so quickly, the nerves do not have time to register it. The hot plate is only in contact with the skin for between 6 and 18th thousandths of a second and this is how it stimulates the skin’s healing reaction with minimal pain and discomfort or the need for a long recovery tine. This reaction includes encouraging the skin cell turbover and increased production of collagen and elastin to smooth the skin, tighten it and reduce scarring and pigmentation. Read more here

What risks are involved with cosmetic skin rejuvenation?

It’s understandable to have reservations about cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatments.
However, when treatment is administered by qualified and experienced professionals, such as Dr Ian Strawford and his Skin Excellence team, treatments are safe and often involve no downtime or subsequent side effects.
In both instances, whether through cosmetic injections or ablative alternatives, non-surgical skin repair and regenerative skin treatments are a safe alternative to going under the knife. And in most cases, they achieve the same, if not better, results.
