Men are often deterred from cosmetic treatments such as Botox, fillers and skin rejuvenation treatments as they used to be seen as ‘cosmetic’ or vain. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Our aim when treating men is to help restore and maintain a healthier, masculine and natural looking appearance.

What aesthetic treatments are available for men?

Men and women age in very similar ways, with a loss of collagen in the skin and connective tissues (usually starting in the 20s), changes to the bony skeleton, loss of volume and increasing activity of the facial muscles. However, anatomically, there are significant differences between male and female faces and this reflects in why their faces age differently, especially around the eyes and along the jawline.

Anti-ageing Treatments

Men often present with frown and forehead lines and hollowing under the eyes, making their appearance tired, gaunt and sometimes overly aggressive. This is very simple to treat using anti-wrinkle injections to really soften the lines and hollowness under the eyes can be corrected with dermal fillers or collagen stimulators, such as Ellanse, to restore lost volume.

Skin quality and tightening can be achieved with a variety of different treatment options including Morpheus8, Tixel, HIFU or even injections of polynucleotides – (RNA therapy) to boost cellular activity within the skin.

For many men, a loss of the strong chiselled jawline with laxity and fullness of the upper neck becomes apparent as they head towards their middle age. This is mainly due to the loss of bone in the mandible (jawbone), laxity of the skin and an increase in fat deposition in the lower face and neck.  At Skin Excellence Clinics we have a range of treatments that can safely address these issues such as FaceTite with liposuction, Morpheus8, and HIFU which can reduce the fat in the neck and tighten the skin. Thread lifts can address the lower facial laxity and restore a more ‘lifted’ appearance. Dermal fillers or Ellanse can be placed along the jawline to add more volume and restore definition to address the bone loss to give the ‘chiselled’ appearance many seek to achieve.

Acne and Skincare Treatments

Men’s skin has a much thicker dermis with more hair follicles and oil secreting glands. It is more prone to acne and acne scarring, often starting from their teenage years into early adulthood, and sometimes continuing to later years. With our prescribed appropriate medical skin care and treatments we are able to control acne and reverse acne scarring using chemical peels, Morpheus8 and Tixel, all of which are very popular in our clinics.

Mole, Lump and Bump Removal

One of the most popular treatments men seek at our clinics is to remove unsightly skin lesions, moles, cysts and lipomas. We were one of the first clinics to pioneer and start using radiosurgery to remove moles without the need for a scalpel and sutures. This revolutionary treatment simply vaporises the moles away, with a very quick healing time and low risk of scarring. Larger lesions such as cysts and lipomas are removed by conventional surgery with local anaesthesia by one of our skilled surgically trained doctors.

Hair Loss Treatments

Hair loss due to male pattern balding is a common and often major concern for many men. We are able to offer advice around nutrition and topical therapies to slow down the process. Effective  treatments include PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections derived from your own blood, polynucleotides and even exosomes (stem cells) to support and maintain healthy hair growth.

Erectile Dysfunction Treatments and Testosterone Replacement

The ‘Andropause’ unlike the menopause in women, occurs gradually over time with men noticing the loss of testosterone combined with increasing symptoms of apathy, tiredness, loss of motivation and drive, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction and increasing difficulty to maintain muscle bulk, despite increasing weight around the torso and abdomen.

As a Centre of Excellence in treating male conditions, we are one of a handful of licensed providers of the official P-Shot procedure in the UK to treat erectile dysfunction in all ages.
