What happens during the treatment?

During your consultation a detailed medical history will be taken, helping us to determine whether the treatment is safe for you to receive and whether it will help you achieve the results you are looking for. This will also reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects. We will carefully map out the areas of treatment and apply a cooling gel to the skin. The HIFU applicator is firmly pressed and moved in each of the treatment areas delivering the ultrasonic energy.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment time will vary depending on what effect you are looking to achieve but HIFU treatment usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the area being treated.

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients experience a degree of discomfort, but generally tolerate the procedure very well.

Will it cause any immediate swelling or redness?

It can cause some initial redness and some slight swelling, which usually only last a few hours post treatment in most cases.

Some results can be seen immediately post treatment with optimum results expected at 3 to 6 months which can then last 1 to 2 years, sometimes longer.

Are there any side effects?

Some patients may experience some slight swelling as well as tingling which settles within a few days. Tenderness to the treatment area is common and usually resolves in a few days.
