Cryotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for removing benign skin lesions on the face or body. Using the power of nitrous oxide, our technology freezes and ruptures the cell membrane of verrucae, viral warts and other forms of lesions to safely remove abnormal tissue in a fast and pain-free way.
How does cryotherapy work?
Cryotherapy is well tolerated treatment which uses an ultra-cold jet of nitrous oxide to safely remove skin lesions on the face and body. The selective freezing can destroy pigment cells in solar lentigo and other skin lesions and in the case of verrucae and wart by killing off the virus living in the skin lesion.
Is cryotherapy painful?
Cryotherapy is generally a well-tolerated procedure. For added comfort, a topical or local anaesthetic can be administered before each treatment.
How many cryotherapy treatments are required to remove my lesion?
The number of treatments required to remove a lesion will vary depending on its type, size and severity. In most cases, one to two sessions are usually enough to achieve a safe and successful removal. In the case of long-standing viral warts and verrucae often 3-4 sessions of cryotherapy are needed to permanently remove these lesions.
What results can I expect from cryotherapy treatment?
Cryotherapy patients can expect blistering for one to two days followed by scabbing typically lasting seven to 10 days. Once the healing process is complete, patients can expect smoother, lesion-free skin with minimal signs of scarring.
What do I need to do to prepare for cryotherapy treatment?
In most cases, you won’t need to do anything to prepare for cryotherapy. Prior to treatment, your practitioner will give you further instruction and guidance on what to expect at every stage of the session.
