Fractora™ Total Skin Resurfacing

  • Do you suffer with deep lines and wrinkles on your face and neck?
  • Are you concerned that your skin seems to be ageing fast, losing its elasticity and firmness?
  • Has your skin been left uneven and scarred from years of acne when younger?
  • Do you have sagging skin with stretch marks after pregnancy or losing weight?
  • Do you hate the ‘smokers lines’ or lipstick bleed lines on your lips?
  • Are you embarrassed wearing sleeveless dresses and tops because you hate the loose ‘crepey’ skin of your upper arms.
  • Is your décolletage looking mottled and lined from the years of sun exposure?

Fractora™ Skin Resurfacing for improving skin texture, tone and pigmentation may be the answer you’re looking for.

Fractora™ is one of the most advanced and effective fractional skin resurfacing treatments available.  Fractora™ is a highly effective procedure that slows down the effects of ageing, helping to restore your skin back to a more youthful appearance by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin in the outer layer of the skin known as the dermis.  This results in an improvement in tone, texture, elasticity and radiance.

Fractora™ can treat superficial and deep wrinkles and lines, loose and sagging skin and is also an excellent treatment for acne scarring and stretch marks especially after pregnancy. It is very effective in the treatment of the difficult problem of smokers lip lines and crepey necks and the décolletage. It can be safely used anywhere on the body where there is loss of elasticity and thickness of the skin such as the upper arms, around the knees and inner thighs causing sagging and crepe paper-like skin.

Fractora™ is very effective for treating scarring especially the widespread scarring associated with chronic acne, burns and other trauma.

Fractora™ utilises radio-frequency energy in combination with micro-needles to safely stimulate and regenerate the skin through the natural healing process. Unlike other resurfacing procedures, such as CO2 laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels, which can be extremely painful, the healing and recovery time with Fractora™  is a matter of days rather than weeks and months as with these more aggressive treatments. However, the results seen following Fractora™ skin resurfacing are as good as those seen following CO2 laser  resurfacing, with significantly less risk of  complications such as burns, scarring and pigmentation issues following treatment.

Fractora Skin Resurfacing

questions?

What happens during the treatment?

Before you have the treatment, Dr Strawford will undertake a thorough examination of your condition and assess the suitable level of treatment needed to achieve the desired results and optimum treatment outcome.

We either apply a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the treatment area or use injections of local anaesthesia for large areas of treatment especially on the body. This normally takes effect in 30 to 45 minutes.

When the skin is numb, we start the treatment using the Fractora™  head which has small needles which enter the skin and deliver the radio-frequency energy to the area of skin being treated. Depending on the area of treatment, the procedure can take between 30 and 60 minutes .

Is the treatment painful?

There is minimal discomfort usually felt as heat following the application of local anaesthesia. Following treatment there is no discomfort and the recovery is very quick.

Is the treatment safe?

Fractora™ has shown to be an extremely safe procedure with minimal risk. Following treatment, it is important patients avoid sun exposure and use a high factor sun protection to avoid the risk of developing hyper-pigmentation in the treated areas.

Are there any side effects?

Immediately after the treatment, you will probably notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area, which may also feel hot and tender. This can vary from person to person, but usually settles in the first few days following treatment, occasionally lasting up to a week or more. The skin can have very small crusts and appear much drier needing regular moisturisation for the first few weeks after treatment..

What aftercare is needed after treatment?

The skin heals very quickly after Fractora™. We provide you with a special cleansing and skin healing product to use after your treatment and after 72 hours make-up can be applied. There can be redness of the treated skin for 1-2 weeks which can be covered by makeup and high factor sun protection is advised.

How many treatment sessions are required?

Usually between one and three treatment sessions are required depending on the condition of the skin being treated and the age of the patient. Less treatment sessions are required if we are able to do the treatment at a higher energy level.  However, the redness and swelling can persist longer (up to 2 weeks) at the highest energy levels of treatment.

Can Fractora™ be used anywhere on the body?

Yes, Fractora™ can be used anywhere on the face and body where the skin needs to change either to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck or acne scarring on the face or to tighten skin and improve elasticity of the skin of the body such as the upper arms or lower abdomen. Fractora can even be used to enhance the female external genitalia, ’The Designer Vagina’.

Fractora™ has also been shown to reduce excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis on a permanent basis.

Fractora™ uses fractionated radio-frequency energy to combine ablation (precise removal of the surface cells) with micro penetrations in to the deeper dermis. The result that occurs is not dissimilar to that of combining two popular skin rejuvenation treatments: fractional or CO2 laser resurfacing (which also removes the surface skin cells) and micro-needle or dermal rolling (multiple pricks of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production through the healing process). Fractora™ uses a matrix of micro needles of varying depth, which deliver a carefully controlled amount of radio-frequency ( RF) energy through the dermis via the Fractora™ hand piece.

Fractora

It is well known by doctors and patients that when the skin is damaged especially by trauma or burns the resulting healed skin often appears fresher and tighter than the surrounding skin. Histological evaluation has shown this is because the new skin has more elastin and collagen. By fractional ablation of the skin as with Fractora™, only small columns of skin are affected and the surrounding skin is left unaffected. This allows for a controlled amount of damage which means the healing time is a lot quicker with much less down time experienced by the patient.
