questions?

What happens during the treatment?

After Dr Strawford has established exactly what you would like to achieve and the treatment areas are identified, he will inject a solution of anaesthetic beneath the skin using a blunt cannula (similar to those used with dermal fillers). The administration of anaesthetic solution itself has some discomfort, but this short-term discomfort allows us to use maximum energy without you feeling any pain or discomfort during the procedure and allow you to achieve the maximum potential of this treatment.

The treatment can be undertaken with local anaesthetic creams only for lesser conditions which require only a low energy treatment.

The Morpheus8 applicator head is applied to the treatment area to allow the penetration of the tiny needles which deliver energy very safely only when the needles have penetrated the skin to the depths as specified by Dr Strawford

Following treatment, we will apply healing serums and a soothing hydrating mask to speed up the recovery process.

Will it cause any immediate swelling or redness?

Yes, you will notice some redness and a little swelling which may take up to a week or two to completely settle down, however, most patients find that this will resolve within a few days. Superficial bruising may occur and a few days after the treatment you may also see some micro lesions or tiny crusts but these will fade away quickly.

What is the advised aftercare following the procedure?

  • Avoid touching the treated area without washing your hands thoroughly especially in the first 48 hours.
  • Ice packs or the use of cool compress/cooling gel pack can be used in the first day to help reduce any heat sensation in the skin and reduce swelling
  • You can cleanse your skin using a non-exfoliating cleanser and pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rub.
  • Apply a physical-SPF-containing morning cream as UV protection every day following treatment
  • We can advise on a range of skin care serums, moisturising and rejuvenating products that we stock in clinics that we advocate using post Morpheus8 treatment to help with the healing process and improve the outcomes and duration of the treatment results.

When can I apply make up after the treatment?

Make up can be applied after 24 hours following the Morpheus8 deep treatment. If this is combined with a superficial ablative treatment of the skin itself we advise waiting 72 hours before applying any make up.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment time will vary depending on what effect you are looking to achieve and the areas(s) of Morpheus8 treatment. Usually treatments take 60-90 mins in total.

Is the treatment painful?

No. Local anaesthetic solution is injected in to the treatment areas for a relatively pain free treatment.

How many treatments will I need

Depending on the Moprheus8 treatment regime that is advised you can expect to have between 1-3 sessions usually 4-8 weeks apart.

How quickly will I see results from Morpheus8?

The collagen stimulation following Morpheus8 is through the healing process which is gradual. Patients normally report seeing improvements after 3-4 weeks which will continue for up to three months or longer when the best results are seen.

How long does the treatment last?

Depending on the condition being treated and the age of the patient the results are long lasting up to two years or more.

Can Morpheus8 be combined with other treatments?

Moprheus8 is often used in combination with FaceTite/NeckTite procedures to improve the results. It is safe to combine Morpheus8 with other treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers but we prefer to schedule these either before or 1-2 weeks after Moprheus8 treatment sessions.

How do I know if Morpheus8 is right for me?

Book a consultation with Dr Strawford at one of our Skin Excellence Clinics and he will talk through your concerns and needs and advise you if he believes this treatment will give you the result you desire, either on its own or in combination with other treatments available at Skin Excellence Clinics.

How much do Morpheus8 treatments cost?

Prices start from £700 up to £2500 depending on areas of treatment.

Moprheus8 combines two clinically proven treatments, namely, skin needling and radiofrequency energy (heat energy) to synergistically stimulate the production of collagen and elastin both in the skin itself and the deeper layers beneath to help rebuild the structures which support your facial contours, lift and tighten as well as improving the quality of your skin.

Skin needling (Derma-roller, Dermapen) have been used for many years to rejuvenate the skin and treat conditions such as acne scarring with good results. It is based on the principle of causing “micro-traumas”, which stimulate a healing response of the body to repair these injuries by making new collagen and elastin.

With Moprheus8 radio-frequency energy is passed through these micro-needles deep in to the tissues to achieve an even greater stimulation of the bodies’ natural healing response due to the heating of the tissues.

There are other systems using micro-needling and radio-frequency energy, however, Morpheus8 is unique as it is the first to allow a variable depth of treatment between a superficial 0.5mm depth and increments of 1mm down to 4mm depth, taking the treatment down to the subcutaneous layer beneath the skin to achieve a maximum tightening and remodelling of the collagen “scaffold” beneath the skin. This is the layer we target with sutures/threads such as Silhouette Soft to achieve a lifting of the facial tissues, redefining the jawline contours and tightening the skin of the neck. No other needling treatments available are able to target this deeper layer alongside treating the skin itself to improve the texture, reducing wrinkles and lines, and even correcting acne scarring.

Morpheus8 is a very well tolerated treatment undertaken with local anaesthetic and can be used safely with all skin types and colours with a very quick recovery time.

It is not only the face and neck that can benefit from Morpheus8 treatments other areas of the body can also benefit from the skin tightening and remodelling that this treatment offers. Other popular areas are: the décolletage, loose skin of the upper arms, inner thighs and knees, abdomen and even to rejuvenate the labia majora in combination with vaginal tightening (Votiva).

Usually 1-3 treatments are required to achieve the best outcomes with results of treatments lasting often up to several years.

At Skin Excellence Clinics we now combine Morpheus8 with our FaceTite procedure to get even more outstanding results which can then last in excess of five years and offer a real alternative to having facelift surgery.

Some clinics offer Morpheus8 using only topical anaesthetic creams. We prefer to fully anaesthetise the treatment areas using injections of anaesthetic solution. This allows us to fully treat all the areas using the maximum energy possible without patients feeling any pain or discomfort but achieving the maximum benefits possible from this innovative treatment.
